Three fields, one purpose, one third party. Here is exactly what is collected, why, for how long, and how to have it erased.
This site collects nothing until you fill in the rebate request form. When you do, it receives your first name, last name and the email address on your Interac account — only so your $10 can be sent. No trackers, no cookies, no analytics, and nothing is sold or shared.
Three fields, all typed in by you: first name, last name, and the email address linked to your Interac account. The form appears on six pages — both homepages, both Wealthsimple reviews and both Questrade comparisons — but it is the same form and the same handling throughout.
Only to send you the $10 I give back out of the $25 Wealthsimple pays me when you open an account with code LOIO3A. The name lets me match your request to a confirmed referral; the email address is where the transfer goes. Without them, the transfer cannot happen.
Me, Anthony Marseul, the site's editor. And Formspree Inc., a company based in the United States, which delivers the form: your information passes through and is stored on its servers before reaching me by email. That is the only third party involved. Nothing is sold, rented or shared with anyone else — including Wealthsimple, which never receives this data from me.
Up to twelve months after the transfer is sent, so an unclaimed transfer or a dispute can still be handled. After that, the information is deleted from my inbox and from the Formspree dashboard. You can ask for deletion before then, at any time.
No Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no cookies, no local storage in your browser. Your visit is not counted and your browsing is not recorded. This site is made of static pages; it has nothing to run in order to show them to you.
Typefaces are hosted on this domain, not loaded from Google Fonts. Opening a page here therefore sends your IP address to no one but the host. The site's only external call is the form submission to Formspree, and it happens only if you press the send button.
Referral and comparison links lead to Wealthsimple, Questrade and other institutions, each governed by its own policy. I send them no data about you; I only learn from Wealthsimple that a referral has been confirmed.
The host keeps standard technical access logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested — for security and server operation. They are not used for analytics, and never cross-referenced with rebate requests.
Law 25 in Quebec, and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) elsewhere in Canada, give you rights over information about you.
To see the information I hold about you, to have it corrected if inaccurate, or to have it deleted. No justification is needed for a deletion request — bearing in mind that if the transfer has not gone out yet, deleting your details means waiving it.
Write to confidentialite@ws-referral.ca, quoting the email address you used in the form so I can find your request. I answer within thirty days at most, as the law requires.
You may complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec if you live there, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada elsewhere in the country. Both handle complaints free of charge.
Any substantial change will show as a new effective date at the top of this page. Information already collected continues to be handled under the policy in force when it was collected.
